Three Golfers Named All-AMCC

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's golf team had three players named to the 2015 All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Team, announced on Monday.

Senior Nicholas VanDamia (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf), the 2014 Golfer of the Year, was named to the first team for the third straight year. He finished eighth at the AMCC Championships this fall, carding a two-day score of 163. VanDamia led the team with a 78.4 average for 10 rounds. He finished in the Top 10 four times, while tying a career-low 72 to win the Hilbert Invitational on Oct. 5.

Sophomores Alex Shindledecker (Mars, PA/Mars) and Sean Sculley (Waterford, PA/Mercyhurst) are earning their first All-AMCC honors. Shindledecker was voted to the first team and Scully was selected to the second team.

Shindledecker was nine over par to finish runner up at the AMCC Championships with a score of 153 (77-76). The sophomore competed in 10 rounds and carded a season-low 76 on three occasions. Shindledecker had his best outing at the conference tournament and averaged 80.5 for the season.

Sculley ranked second on the team with a 79.8 average. He finished in the Top 10 five times, including a  fourth-place finish at the James Bowen Invitational on Sept. 21. He fired a season-best 72 on the first day of the Guy W. Kuhn Memorial Invitational in Meadville, before tying for ninth at the AMCC Championships with a 164 total.

Behrend returns in the spring and will represent the conference at the NCAA Championships May 10-13 at Mendon Golf Club/Midvale Country Club in Rochester, NY.
