Men's Golf Places Ninth at Stimer Memorial Invitational

DELAWARE, Ohio – Sean Sculley (Waterford, PA/Mercyhurst) fired a team-low 74 to finish tied for fifth overall and lead the Penn State Behrend men's golf team to a ninth-place finish at the Stimer Memorial Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan and held at Oakhaven Golf Club on Sunday.

Kenyon won the invitational with a team score of 296, finishing 12 under par (71). Denison was econd (340) and Wooster placed third (306). The Lions tallied a team score of 319 (+35) for their first spring tournament.

Nicholas VanDamia (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) was second on the squad and tied for 27th overall with a score of 79 (40-39) for 18 holes. Cody Stinson (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) tied for 36th in a field of 73 golfers, carding an 80 on the day. Stinson shot a 42 on the front and 38 on the back.

Ryan Matlock (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) was fourth on the team and 56th overall with an 86 (43-43), while Alex Shindledecker (Erie, PA/McDowell) was the fifth golfer for Behrend, finishing tied for 70th with a 94 (42-52).

Individually, Ryder Gringol (Erie, PA/McDowell) had the fourth best score for the group with an 84 to tie for 51st and Zach McCue (Prospect, PA/Slippery Rock) one was stroke ahead with an 85 (t-54th). Brad Cypher (Evans City, PA/Seneca Valley) tied Shindledecker with a 94 for the round.

Behrend returns to action on Wednesday at Carnegie Mellon Spring Invitational at Longue Vue Country Club. Tee time is 10 a.m.
