Golfers Compete at Gannon Spring Invitational

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's golf team finished fifth out of six teams at the Gannon Spring Invitational held at Whispering Woods Golf Course on Saturday afternoon.

Competing against Division II and III teams, the Lions tallied a score of 334 for fifth overall. Mercyhurst placed first with a 296 total and Gannon took second (310). Humber College was in third place (314) and Clarion ended in fourth (316).

Ryan Matlock (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) carded the best score for Behrend, finishing tied for 19th with an 81 for 18 holes. Nicholas VanDamia (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) was one stroke ahead Matlock with an 82 to place tied for 21st overall.

Sean Sculley (Waterford, PA/Mercyhurst) tied for 27th with a score of 85 and Cody Stinson (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) posted the fourth-best team score with an 86 to place 30th. Alex Shindledecker (Erie, PA/McDowell) posted a 92 on the day to round out the Lions top five golfers.

Behrend returns to action tomorrow at the Mercyhurst Invitational.
