Lions Finish Fifth at Mercyhurst Spring Invitational

NORTH EAST, Pa.  - Nicholas VanDamia (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) finished in the Top 10 with a two-day total of 152 to lead the Penn State Behrend men's golf team at the Mercyhurst Spring Invitational on Sunday and Monday at Lake View Country Club.

The Lions, who were in third place after day one with a 306, came back and fired a 320 to finish with a 626 for fifth place overall. Gannon captured the invitational with a winning score of 602. Mercyhurst took second (603) and Roberts Wesleyan followed in third (609).

VanDamia was second on the team after day one with a 77 and led on day two with a 75 to finish tied for ninth overall with a 152. Sean Sculley (Waterford, PA/Mercyhurst) had the best score on the first day with a 73 and added an 82 from today to place 16th with a 154.

Ryan Matlock (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) had combined scores of 77 and 82 for a 159 and place 25th, while Cody Stinson (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) tied Matlock today with an 82 and posted a 79 yesterday for a 161 (T27th).

Alex Shindledecker (Erie, PA/McDowell) fired the same score on both days. He tallied an 84 to double to 168 for 38th place.

Behrend returns to action on Monday in its spring invitational held at Lawrence Park Golf Course. Tee times begin at 12 p.m.
