Men's Golf Finishes Day Two of NCAA Championships

ROCHESTER, NY - The Penn State Behrend men's golf team finished tied for 36th place with a final score of 650 after day two of the NCAA Championships held at Midvale Country Club in Rochester, New York on Wednesday.

The Lions, who carded a 315 on day one, came back to shoot a 335 (+47) on the second course for the championships. Claremont-Mudd Scripps continues to lead the field of 15 who qualified to move onto the next round with a 585 team score. Washington & Lee is second with a 594 total and St. Thomas (MN) is tied for third with Methodist (597).

Nicholas VanDamia (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) ended +14 for the tournament with a two-day total of 157 to tie for 89th overall. He carded an 82 today, posting a 42 on the front nine and 40 on the back. VanDamia pared nine holes and tallied two birdies.

Sean Sculley (Waterford, PA/Mercyhurst) and Ryan Matlock (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) each fired an 84 for the par 72 course. Sculley took second on the team and tied for 150th with a 163 total, while Matlock was fifth and tied for 181st overall. After carding a +9 on the front, Sculley returned with a +3 on the back. Matlock tallied the same score each day for a 168 total. He finished +25 after shooting seven over on the front and five over on the back.

Cody Stinson (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) had the fourth-best score on the team today with an 85 to finish with a 167 (T175th). He had a birdie on three holes, including two on the back nine to end +13 on the day.

Alex Shindledecker (Erie, PA/McDowell), who carded a 79 on day one, tallied an 87 for a 166 total. He finished tied for 168th overall. Shindledecker was eight over on the back nine and finished with a +7 on the front.
