Golfers Continue to Swing; Lions Compete at Bud Elwell Fall Classic

NORTH EAST, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's golf team competed in day one of the Bud Elwell Fall Classic hosted by Gannon University at the Whispering Woods Golf Course on Sunday.

Key Moments:

* Behrend is playing its third round in a row after competing in the two-day Mercyhurst Invite
* The Lions are the lone Division III squad competing among 11 other Division II schools
* Phil Pedano (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) shot a team-low score of 82 and tallied two birdies to sit tied for 45th place overall
* Ryan Johnson (Centre Hall, PA/Penns Valley) was one shot behind Pedano, carding an 83 for a three-way tie for 50th place
* Jake Caldwell (Belle Vernon, PA/Belle Vernon) and Jake Verner (Venetia, PA/Seton LaSalle) were tied for 58th place with a score of 87
* Johnny Main (Sewickley, PA/Quaker Valley) was the only Behrend player to shoot an eagle on any hole, finishing with an 89 to sit in 60th place
* Gannon, who captured the Mercyhurst Invite, is in the lead after day one with a low score of 285
