BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team fell to defending Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) champion Medaille on Tuesday evening, 2-1.
George Tor's goal off a penatly kick early in the second half was enough for the Mavericks to win the rematch of last year's AMCC championship game.
The Lions (3-5-1, 1-1 AMCC) got on the board first late in the opening half. Eric Vunovic (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) found Jake Gamble (Butler, PA/Butler) who was able to net his team leading seventh goal of the season. Behrend's 1-0 lead wouldn't last long as Medaille's Alexander Rouse knotted the game at 1-all barely a minute later.
As the second half began, the Mavericks were able to strike quick. Just under five minutes into the second period, Tor was granted a penatly kick. Tor beat the goalkeeper for what would be the game winner. The final 40 minutes remained scoreless leading to a 2-1 Medaille victory.
The Lions will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Pitt-Greensburg for their third AMCC match. Game time is 1 p.m.
