Lions Shut Out Pitt-Bradford 2-0

BRADFORD, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team shut out Pitt-Bradford 2-0 Tuesday afternoon in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action.

Two goals in the second half powered the Lions (6-6-1, 4-1 AMCC) to the victory while handing the Panthers their first AMCC loss.

The defenses dominated the first half.  Senior goalkeeper Chris Bolea (Ambridge, PA/Ambridge) recored all five of his saves in the first have to keep Pitt-Bradford off the board.  Behrend was able to battle to a scoreless first half with the Panthers despite being out shot 9-8.

With the score tied at zero entering the second half, it didn't take long for the Lions to get on the board.  Peter Brower (Rochester, NY/McQuaid Jesuit) scored his third goal in two games to give Behrend the edge, 1-0. Sean Polosky (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) dished the ball through the right side of the box to Brower to earn the assist.

The game would remain at 1-0 for the next forty minutes until Jake Gamble (Butler, PA/Butler) tallied his team leading 10th goal of the season.  Senior midfielder Aaron Meehl (North East, PA/North East) crossed the ball to Gamble for the insurance goal.  The Lions were able to hold on for the next four minutes for their third AMCC victory in a row.

Behrend will be back on the pitch Saturday for their second road match in a row against Penn State Altoona.  Game time is 1 p.m.
