ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team won their 11th straight game on Saturday after defeating Pitt-Greensburg, 1-0.
With the victory, the Lions (11-1) are now tied for the longest current winning-streak in all of Division III men's soccer.
Despite having outshot the Bobcats 9-6 in the first half, Behrend was unable to find the back of the net with the score tied at 0-0 at the break.
The Lions offense continued to find opportunities with four more shots on goal in the second half, but it was not until the 80th minute that Behrend was able to get on the board. Mike Worthy (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) found Eric Vunovic (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) at the top of the box to set up the game winner. Vunovic fired a low shot to the right side of the goal to put Behrend up, 1-0. Behrend held off Pitt-Greensburg's final attempts to secure the victory.
Jarrod Wassell (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) continued to play well between the pipes for the Lions. The sophomore made three saves for his fifth shutout of the season.
Behrend will be back in action on Tuesday. The Lions will host Houghton at 3 p.m.
