CRESSON, Pa. – Jimmy Belack (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) scored a pair of goals and Jake Gamble (Butler, PA/Butler) added another to lead the Penn State Behrend men's soccer team over Mt. Aloysius 3-0 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Saturday.
The Lions (12-2, 6-0 AMCC) posted their seventh shut-out victory, holding the Mounties (2-11) to just six shots. Gamble started the scoring and Belack netted back-to-back goals to help Behrend earn its sixth conference win.
Three minutes after the opening whistle, Gamble finished a shot off a pass from Peter Brower (Rochester, NY/McQuaid Jesuit) for a 1-0 lead.
Belack took control in the second half all by himself, netting two goals 23 minutes apart. In the 53rd minute, he recorded an unassisted tally and did it again in the 76th minute to give the Lions the lead for good.
Behrend scored three goals off 17 shots and held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Lions return to action on Wednesday against Pitt-Bradford. Game time is at 3 p.m.
