Lions Fall to Alvernia in ECAC Semifinals

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team fell to Alvernia 2-0 in the semifinals of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Region Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

Despite 11 shots, including six on goal, the Lions (17-5) were shutout for just the third time all season.

Neither team was able to get much offense going in the first half, matching one another with three shots each.  The defenses controlled the game in the first 45 minutes, keeping the game scoreless at the break.

Just over 12 minutes into the second half, the Crusaders broke the stalemate.  Tyler Reinoehl's first goal of the season put Alvernia up 1-0.  The Crusaders added on an insurance goal in the 84th minute and that was all they needed to advance to tomorrow's championship game.

Behrend ended the season with 17 wins, second most in school history.
