ERIE, Pa. – Peter Brower (Rochester, NY/ McQuaid Jesuit) scored the game-winning goal at the 35:09 mark and Jarrod Wassell (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg Area) netted a shutout to lead the Penn State Behrend men's soccer teamover Baldwin Wallace in the Herb Lauffer Memorial Championship game on Saturday Night.
The win marks the first time the Lions have won the tournament since 2010, when they also defeated the Yellow Jackets in the championship game.
Brower, who finished the weekend with two goals, was named Tournament MVP.
Garrett Fiscus (Russel, PA/ Eisenhower) tallied the lone assist of the game for the Lions (2-0), who defeated Bethany in the first round of the tournament.
Behrend employed an aggressive, attacking defensive style that led to few offensive opportunities and only five shots for the Yellow Jackets (1-1).
The Lions return to action Friday, September 6 at Oberlin.
