ERIE, Pa. – Eric Vunovic (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season to help the Penn State Behrend men's soccer team defeat D'Youville 3-0 on Tuesday evening at the Behrend Field.
The victory was the fourth straight for the Lions (8-2-1, 2-0 AMCC) who in the process earned their fourth shutout of the year. During the winning streak, Behrend has outscored their opponents by a combined total of 16-2.
Vunovic opened up the scoring at the 11:42 mark of the first half with a low stinger shot off of a Nick Stewart (Pittsburgh, PA/Keystone Oaks) pass.
The Lions widened the margin early in the second half when Kyle Coonelly (Sewickley, PA/Quaker Valley) netted a superb Anthony Crivelli (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) cross to make it 2-nil.
Anton Benedikt (Madison, NJ/Madison) capped off the scoring at the 60:17 point with a low line drive goal off of a Garrett Fiscus (Russel, PA/Eisenhower) pass to put the game out of reach.
Will Cole (Russel, PA/Eisenhower) made his first start of the season in net for the Lions and did not allow a goal.
Behrend will look to remain unbeaten in AMCC play when they host La Roche on October 5 at 1 p.m.
