Lions Tame Redhawks, 4-0

ERIE, Pa. – Jarrod Wassell (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) earned his fourth shutout of the year and Eric Vunovic (North Huntingdon, PA/North Huntingdon) added his seventh goal to lead the Penn State Behrend men's soccer team past La Roche 4-0 on Saturday afternoon at Behrend field.

The Lions (9-2-1, 2-0 AMCC) are in the midst of a five game winning streak during which they have outscored opponents by an astounding total of 20-2.

Kyle Coonelly (Sewickley, PA/Quaker Valley) opened the festivities with a perfect angle shot to give Behrend a 1-0 advantage.

Tyler Presloid (Punxsutawney, PA/Punxsutawney) then netted one of the prettiest goals of the season for the Lions – or any team -- just before halftime. He took a beautiful entry pass from Jake Szul (North East, PA/North East) and in one motion headed it past La Roche goalkeeper Nick Sabol to make it 2-0.

Then, at the 86:32 mark of the second half, Behrend put the game away. Vunovic broke loose, blew by Sabol, and emphatically pounded the ball into the back of the empty net.

The Lions weren't done, however, as Behrend made it 4-0 with just moments remaining when Anthony Crivelli (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) scored his fifth goal of the season.

The Lions defense harassed La Roche (5-7, 2-1 AMCC) throughout the match, limiting the Redhawks to just eight shots in the contest.

Behrend will travel to meet Medaille in a battle for AMCC supremacy on October 8 at 5 p.m.
