Hackworth Scores Twice In Lions Victory

ALTOONA, Pa. – Eric Hackworth (Pittsburgh, PA/Shaler) scored two goals and the Behrend Lions defense instituted a smothering attack en route to a 6-1 win over Penn State Altoona on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions went to work early with Eric Vunovic (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) scoring just 5:16 into the match on a pass from Garrett Fiscus (Russel, PA/Eisenhower). It was Fiscus' 7^th assist of the season, which leads the team.

After a Hackworth goal at the 13:03 mark, Altoona struck with a Stephan Karl goal to slice the deficit in half.

Berhend did not fester, however, scoring three more times in the first half to take command.

First, Kyle Coonelly (Sewickley, PA/Quaker Valley) beat the Altoona goalkeeper to give the Behrend Lions a two goal edge at the 29:21 mark.

The Behrend Lions would then score twice in the span of 35 seconds to put the game away.

Charlie Sestito (Beaver, PA/Beaver) slipped through the Altoona defense to score, and moments later Anthony Crivelli (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Vally) fired in a pass from Sestito.

Crivelli, a freshman, has scored nine goals in 2013, which leads the squad.

Hackworth put in the clincher from Sean Polosky (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) midway through the second half to give Behrend the 5-1 edge.

Throughout the contest, the Lions throughout dominated on both ends. Jarrod Wassell (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) and Joel Solomon (Mercer, PA/Mercer) combined to only allow one goal and Behrend outshot Altoona 19-9.

Penn State Behrend will take on Hilbert in their regular season home finale on Tuesday, October 29 at 5:00.
