ERIE, Pa. – Jimmy Belack (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) recorded two assists and goalkeeper Will Cole (Russel, PA/Eisenhower) notched a shutout leading the Penn State Behrend men's soccer team past Hilbert 2-0 on Tuesday night.
Playing their final contest of the 2013 regular season, the Lions (14-4-1, 8-1 AMCC) outshot the Hawks 20-5 on a brisk evening at Behrend Field.
Charlie Sestito (Beaver, PA/Beaver) struck first for the Lions at the 36:33 mark.
Belack set up the goal with a long throw-in, and Mike Worthy (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) deflected the ball in Sestito's direction. With his momentum carrying him away from the net, Sestito was able to slide and fire the ball into the back of the goal. It was the sophomore's second score of the season.
It remained 1-nil until the 73:09 mark of the second half.
Eric Vunovic (North Huntingdon, PA/North Huntingdon) took a pass from Belack and skipped it in to the back left corner of the goal. The score, which was Vunovic's ninth of 2013, would be more than enough for Penn State Behrend.
Cole earned his second win of the season in net for the Lions, keeping his GAA a perfect 0.00.
Behrend will now await their yet-to-be-determined opponent in the AMCC Tournament semifinals. That match will be held Wednesday, November 6 at Behrend Field.
