ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team advanced to the championship game of the Herb Lauffer Memorial Soccer Tournament with a 3-0 decision over Baldwin Wallace Friday night.
The Lions offense was stellar producing three goals, two in the second half. Jarrod Wassell (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) posted his fifth straight shutout dating back to last season making two big stops on the night.
Jimmy Belack (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) fed the ball to Sean Gallagher (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) to open up the scoring at the 12:12 mark in the first half with a nice move to get past multiple defenders and netted his first career goal.
The Lions tacked on their second goal at the 52:41 mark in the second half when Mike Worthy (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) landed a direct kick from outside the box in the top left corner of the net.
Sean Polosky (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) added an insurance goal with eight minutes remaining when he tipped a corner kick in delivered by Jay Jarrett (North Huntington, PA/Norwin) to take a 3-0 lead.
For Baldwin Wallace Andrew Sismour made three saves in the net in a losing effort.
Behrend will face Hiram in the championship game tomorrow at 7:30 pm.
