Lions Fall in the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament Championship

ERIE, Pa. - Andy Harding scored the game-winning goal with five minutes remaining in regulation to lead Hiram past Penn State Behrend 2-1 in the championship game of the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament on Saturday night.

The Terriors (2-0) scored the final two goals of the game, one on a penalty kick and the latter breaking a scoring draught and a 1-all game for the tournament trophy.

The Lions (1-1), who were cut short of the title two years in a row, got on the board first. Jimmy Belack (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) capitalized on a penalty kick in the 11th minute after Anthony Crivelli (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) got taken down in the box.

Hiram answered with a penalty kick of their own converted by Tanner Mathews seven minutes later.

Behrend and Hiram went back and forth in the second half each having multiple opportunities to score. Crivelli had scoring opportunities for the Lions but could not push the ball past the Chris Lindemeyer.

Harding was heroic for Hiram with the game winner by breaking through on a pass by Ryan Kramarz.

Behrend returns to action on Wednesday at 7:30pm when they take on Westminster under the lights.
