ERIE, Pa. - Jimmy Belack (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) scored two goals to lead the Penn State Behrend men's soccer team past Penn State Altoona Saturday afternoon.
Belack got the Lions (7-3, 1-0 AMCC) on the board early with a goal off of a direct kick at the 23:25 mark. Coming out of the half, Belack scored again in the 64th minute to give Behrend a two-goal lead.
The Lions defense played extremely well, keeping Penn State Altoona (2-7, 0-1 AMCC) off the board. Jarrod Wassell (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) notched the shutout in the net, his fourth of the season.
Anton Benedikt (Madison, NJ/Madison) scored his second goal of the season, putting in a rebound off of the post at the 73:40 mark. He also recorded his first assist of the season on a late Jay Jarrett (North Huntington, PA/Norwin) goal. Jarrett tipped a shot in front of the net with just under two minutes left to play.
Zhafar Dzhabarov (Erie, PA/Central) notched his second goal of the season making a nice move to beat the goalie at the 85:15 mark.
Anthony Crivelli (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) and Nick Stewart (Pittsburgh, PA/Keystone Oaks) added an assist each, contributing to the blowout win.
The Lions will travel to Hilbert Tuesday for a 4:00 p.m. AMCC conference clash.
