Lions Blank Medaille, Stay Undefeated in AMCC

ERIE, Pa. – In a contest featuring two undefeated AMCC conference opponents, the Penn State Behrend men's soccer team blanked Medaille (12-4, 4-1 AMCC) by a score of 3-0. The Lions (12-3, 6-0 AMCC) notched their seventh straight victory, and remain undefeated in the AMCC through six games.

In a very physical match-up, Behrend was able to strike first. Jimmy Belack (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) put the Lions up 1-0 at the 20:32 mark with a shot from out in front of the box that made its way to the lower right corner of the net. Belack has now scored in a remarkable seven straight games.

Just under twelve minutes later, the Lions capitalized on a corner kick when Evan Augustine (Pittsburgh, PA/South Park) was able to get the ball in the net through a large scramble in the box. This was the defensemen's second goal of the year, giving Behrend a two goal advantage.

With just ten minutes left to play, Sean Polosky (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) sealed the game for Behrend with a rocket shot that made its way past the goalie into the net to put the Lions up by three. Jimmy Belack assisted Polosky on the goal, putting Belack just one assist away of tying the school record for career assists.

The Lions defense played extremely well all night, shutting down each scoring opportunity for Medaille. Jarrod Wassell (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) earned the shutout in the victory, his fifth of the season. Behrend has now shutout opponents in four straight games and six out of seven.

The red-hot Lions continue their chase for an AMCC regular-season championship when they host Pitt-Greensburg Friday at 7:30 p.m.
