Lions End Regular Season With Victory

ERIE, Pa. - An offensive outburst propelled the Penn State Behrend men's soccer team to a 6-0 victory over Alfred State (6-11-1) Tuesday night. Anthony Crivelli (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) and Nick Stewart (Pittsburgh, PA/Keystone Oaks) each scored two goals to lead Behrend. The win marks the best regular-season record to date for the Lions (16-3) who achieved 16 wins and end the regular-season on an 11 game winning streak.

Less than one minute into the contest, Behrend took the lead on Stewart's third goal of the year. Kevin Vock (Bridgeville, PA/South Fayette) earned his first assist of the year delivering the cross aiding Stewart's goal. Vock finished with two assists in the game.

At the 9:16 mark, Crivelli netted his first goal of the game drilling a low shot into the left corner of the net. Crivelli notched a second goal at the 57:10 mark, beating the goalie on a one-on-one confrontation.

Continuing one of the best seasons ever for a Behrend Lion, Jimmy Belack (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) recorded his AMCC leading 17th goal of the season in the 19th minute. That mark ties Belack for the second best single-season goal output in Lions history. Belack also added an assist, his team-leading 10th of the year.

Behrend's offense was nearly unstoppable in the contest. The Lions outshot Alfred State 29-8. Jared Myers (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) scored his second goal of the season at the 37:06 mark nailing a floating shot from the end-line. Scott Repenning (Bayvillage, OH/Bay High School) added his first assist of the season on the scoring play.

Zhafar Dzhabarov (Erie, PA/Central) also contributed an assist on Nick Stewart's second goal at the 58:48 mark. A three-man crew of Colton Smith, (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) Will Cole (Russell, PA/Eisenhower) and Joel Solomon (Mercer, PA / Mercer) combined in the net to shutout Alfred State. Smith made four saves and earned the victory, the first of the freshman's career.

The Lions head into the AMCC tournament as the top dog and host a semi-final game next Wednesday against the winner of the quarterfinal match between the four and five seeded teams.
