Men's Soccer Match With Staten Island Ends In a Draw

STATEN ISLAND, Ny - The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team took on Staten Island this afternoon, battling to a 0-0 draw.

The Lions (2-1-2) and Dolphins (3-1-1) proved to be evenly matched, recording 17 and 16 shots, respectively. Although Behrend had 12 shots on net, Staten Island's goalie, Jake Foeldes, kept the Lions off the board.

Perhaps Behrend's best chance to score came in the 53rd minute when Anthony Crivelli (Cranberry Township, Seneca Valley) was denied by Foeldes on a breakaway. Foeldes made the initial save on Crevelli as well as the rebound shot.

Dakota Lange (Apollo, PA/Kiski Area) had a great chance to break the tie in the second overtime only to have his shot saved by Foeldes. Lange finished with five shots. Nolan Beresford (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield), Matt Dziadosz (Leechburg, PA/Kiski Area), and Crivelli added three shot apiece.

Freshman goalkeeper Chris Ralph (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) picked up his second shutout of the season, recording eight saves for Behrend.

The Lions will be back at home this Wednesday when they take on John Carroll. Game starts at 7:00 p.m.
