Lions Take Down Titans in Non-Conference Match

ERIE, Pa - The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team battled Westminster Wednesday night in non-conference action, defeating the Titans 3-1.

Freshman Jared Myers (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) netted his first career goal in a Lions uniform. Anthony Crivelli (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) and Evan Augustine (South Park, PA/Suth Park) also found the back of the net for Behrend.

In the 13th minute of the game, Crivelli corralled his own rebound and put the ball past Westminster goalkeeper AJ Bove, giving the Lions an early 1-0 lead. Later in the 34th minute, Myers took a shot that was deflected, but he too found his own rebound. Myers' second attempt put Behrend up 2-0 after his shot found the top of the net.

Behrend went into the half outshooting the Titans by a 10-7 margin.

The Lions came out in the second half looking to add to their lead in an attempt to put Westminster away. At the 52:01 mark Augustine did just that, finding the back of the cage for the first time of the season, making the score 3-0.

A little over four minutes later, in the 56th minute, Behrend surrendered the first goal against them since September 6th, making the score 3-1.

Westminster outshot the Lions in the game 17-13, but Behrend's lead was too much for them to overcome.

The Lions will be back in action on Saturday at home when they open up conference play against Pitt-Greensburg. The game is set to start at 3:30 p.m., following the women's match.
