Behrend Battles Altoona in 1-1 Draw

ERIE, Pa - The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team competed against Penn State Altoona in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) play Saturday afternoon to a 1-1 draw.

Both squads battled the 110 minutes evenly. Behrend (9-1-3, 3-0-1 AMCC) finished with nine shots on goal while Altoona (7-5-1, 3-1-1 AMCC) recorded seven.

After a scoreless first half, Jordan Crist gave Altoona a 1-0 lead. He raced down the left side of the field and chipped a slow-roller past Behrend goalkeeper, Chris Ralph (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional).

A little over four minutes later, senior Sean Gallagher (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) placed a free kick into the box where it found sophomore midfielder Bobby Svec (Irwin, PA/Norwin). Svec placed a header past Altoona goalkeeper Liam Grady, tying the match at one apiece.

Altoona and Behrend slugged it out over the rest of regulation as well as two overtime periods but, the game would finish in a 1-1 draw.

The Lions will be back in action against Hilbert this Tuesday when they travel to Hamburg, NY. Game time is 4:15 p.m.
