Lions Remain Undefeated in AMCC; Perritano Reaches Coaching Milestone

ERIE, Pa - Dan Perritano recorded his 300th win as the men's head coach of the Penn State Behrend soccer team as they defeated Pitt-Bradford 5-0 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action Wednesday evening.

The Lions (13-1-3, 6-0-1 AMCC) maintained control of the ball for the majority of the game, outshooting the Panthers (1-10-2, 1-3-2 AMCC) 28-3. 

Behrend wasted no time getting out to an early lead, scoring just 41 seconds into the game. Aaron Harris's (Washington, PA/McGuffey) shot found the lower left corner giving the Lions the 1-0 lead. Dakota Lange (Apollo, PA/Kiski Area) recorded his second assist of the season on the goal. 

The Lions then scored their final goal of the first half in the 29th minute off an Anthony Crivelli (Cranberry Twp, PA/Seneca Valley) one-touch shot to the lower right corner. Anton Benedikt (Madison, NJ/MAdison) delievered the pass through the box to get the 2-0 lead.

Behrend added three more goals in the second half in route of the Panthers. At the 50:29 mark, Lange added his fourth goal of the season and made the score 3-0. Eight minutes later, Sean Gallagher (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) capitalized on a penalty shot, recording his 11th point of the season and making it 4-0 in favor of the Lions.

Zhafar Dzhabarov (Erie, PA/Central) found the back of the net in the 86th minute, making it his first goal of the season. Shuya Takehana (Nagano, Japan/Matsusho Gakuen) recorded his first collegiate point on the assist and Ryan Segar (Athens, PA/Athens) was also rewarded a helper.

With the 5-0 shutout, Behrend now has 11 shutouts on the season.

The Lions will be back in action this Saturday when they travel to La Roche. Game time is 3:15 p.m.
