No. 25 Men's Soccer Claims Eighth AMCC Title; Crivelli Scores Hat Trick

ERIE, Pa - The 25th-ranked Penn State Behrend men's soccer team captured their eighth Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) championship Saturday afternoon with a 4-0 victory over Medialle. Anthony Crivelli (Cranberry Twp, PA/Seneca Valley) paced the Lions offense with three goals to help his team punch thier ticket to the NCAA Tournament.

Chris Ralph (Murrysville, PA/Franklin regional), Sean Gallagher (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) and Crivelli were named to the all-tournament team.

This is the nineth time in the last 10 years the Mavericks (12-5-2) and Behrend (17-1-3) have played for the crown. Medaille outshot the Lions by a 13-5 margin in the first half, but Behrend managed to net two goals.

Crivelli scored the first goal of his hat trick to break the game open in the 6th minute. Aaron Harris (Washington, PA/McGuffey) played the ball from the right side to Crivelli. His goal from the left side of the box put the Lions up 1-0.

Crivelli added his second goal at the 19:23 mark. He dribbled through two defenders and chipped a shot over the head of Medaille goalkeeper Brian Arcara.

The Mavericks came on strong to open the second half, but still failed to find the back of the net. At 57:00, Matt Baleno (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) played a perfect ball through the middle of the field to Crivelli, who put Behrend up 3-0 with his shot from just outside the box. 

With a little over 10 minutes remaining, Nolan Beresford (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield) was tripped in the box which led to the final Lions goal. Sean Gallagher (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Paark) was called upon and converted his fourth penalty kick of the season. He how has seven goals and six assists on the year.

Today's 4-0 shutout is Behrend's largest margin of victory in an AMCC title game.

Crivelli's three goals puts him at 11 this season. Ralph made six saves in goal and now has nine shutout wins.

Behrend's next opponent will be determined on Monday when the NCAA selection show is set to take place.
