Behrend Men's Soccer First in AMCC Poll; Brinsky, Eckberg Preseason Players of the Year

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's soccer teams have been selected as the favorites to win the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference this season, tying with Medaille for the top spot in the preseason coaches' polls released Tuesday.

Both teams are eager to get back to competition this fall after having the 2020 season canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Lions are the reigning champions from 2019, finishing with a 19-2 record and a 9-1 AMCC mark. Senior Logan Brinsky (Canonsburg, PA/Peters Township) was named Co-Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, while senior midfielder Christian Eckberg (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) was tabbed Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.

Brinsky scored nine goals including the game winner in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in 2018. After being sidelined due to injury in 2019, he is hoping to make the most out of his senior season. Eckberg is a two-time All-AMCC choice leading up to his final season. He has started ever game in the midfield. Eckberg was instrumental in 10 shutouts and an 0.85 goals-against average for the defense in 2019.
