Behrend Men's Soccer Announces Team Awards

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team announced its 2022 team awards. The recipients are Sam York (Akron, OH/Revere), John Ziobro (Westtown, NY/Minisink Valley), Cole Thomas (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin), Brock Kiefer (Eighty-Four, PA/Canon McMillan) and Nate Rondinelli (Karns City, PA/Karns City).

York was voted the Most Valuable Player for the Lions. The senior goalkeeper was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Player of the Year and to the All-AMCC first team. York was recently chosen to the USC All-Region team. He landed tied for second in shutouts and fifth in goals-against average on the final NCAA men's soccer statistics. York tallied 13 shutouts in 22 games and only allowed 10 goals for a .855 average.

Ziobro was selected the Most Improved Player this season. He started every game, including all conference games and scored three goals and added one assist for seven points. Ziobro finished third on the team with six goals and one assists for 13 points.

Thomas and Kiefer were named Most Outstanding Freshmen. Thomas started 15 of the 23 games, scoring two goals and handing out two assists for six points. Kiefer was instrumental on defense for Behrend. He started in five games and tallied one assist, while holding opponents to just 10 goals this season.

Rondinelli rounds out the honors, earning the Leadership/Scholarship award. The junior played in all 23 games, recording six points with two goals and two assists.
