Behrend Men’s Soccer Completes Homestand vs. Wells Tuesday Afternoon

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team completes its three-game homestand with an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) matchup against Wells on Tuesday, Sep. 26. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.

* The Lions are coming off a 2-0 week in which they earned a shutout victory over Houghton (2-0) and scored an 8-1 win against La Roche in the conference opener
* Against La Roche, seven different Lions got in on the scoring action, while eight different players notched their first point of the season
* Freshman Lucas Pittman (Plum, PA/Plum) led the way with five points, tallying an unassisted goal in the 44th minute and another score in the 62nd minute off a pass from fellow freshman Andy Jones (Girard, PA/Girard). This marks the first collegiate point for Jones
* Pittman also assisted on Tyler Vandemerwe's (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) first goal of the 2023 campaign
* Other scorers for the Lions were Johnathan Swann (Allison Park, PA/North Allegheny), Nate Coleman (Vandergrift, PA/Kiski Area), Andrew Cassano (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park), Justin Hockenberger (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport), and Mason Le (Canonsburg, PA/Canon McMillan)
* Blake Cooper (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) finished with a game-high three assists, while Justin LeDonne (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional), Nate Rondinelli (Karns City, PA/Karns City), and Dylan Akut (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) added helpers. Akut recorded his first collegiate point with his assist
* Behrend's defense held La Roche to only two shots and one corner kick the entire 90 minutes, while outshooting the Redhawks, 35-2

* For the week, Cooper tallied one goal and four assists for a total of six points to earn AMCC Offensive Player of the Week Honors. He now leads the team in assists (five) and points (nine)

* Wells has an overall record of 0-4-2, falling to Penn State Altoona (2-0) in the AMCC opener on Saturday
