Lions Clinch First Round Bye With Regular Season Finale Win At Hilbert

HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team played its regular season finale at Hilbert and earned a 3-0 shutout win Tuesday afternoon.

Records: Penn State Behrend (11-3-3, 7-1-1 AMCC), Hilbert (5-10, 4-5 AMCC)

Key Moments:

* Behrend had several chances to take a lead in the first half with 19 shots, seven of which were on goal
* The Lions and Hawks went in to halftime with neither team cracking the scoreboard
* To start the second half, Johnathan Swann (Allison Park, PA/North Allegheny) gave Behrend a 1-0 lead in the 49th minute
* Swann struck the ball from outside the box in to the top right corner of the goal to put the Lions ahead
* In the 62nd minute, Swann found the back of the net again on a cross from Blake Cooper (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional)
* Senior Zak Schwarzel (South Park, PA/South Park) capped off the Lions win with a score in the 82nd off an assist from Tyler Vandemerwe (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep)
* The Lions defense registered their ninth shutout of the season and for the second consecutive game did not allow their opponent to take a shot
* Offensively, Behrend controlled Tuesday's match, outshooting Hilbert 39-0
* Swann recorded six shots, while Justin LeDonne (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) tallied five shots for Lions
* Hilbert's goalkeeper Logan Peck made 13 saves
* With this victory, Behrend secured a first round bye in the AMCC Tournament
