Behrend Men's Soccer Blanks La Roche in AMCC Opener

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team scored three goals in a span of 16 minutes in the second half to defeat La Roche 3-0 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) opener Saturday afternoon.

* Senior Andrew Cassano (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) scored his second consecutive game winner to help the Lions put together their first winning streak of the season
* In the 60^th minute, the Lions were awarded their second corner kick taken by Brock Kiefer (Eighty-Four, PA/Canon McMillan)
* Cassano got a header on Kiefer's corner kick to break the scoreless tie
* Behrend registered its second goal off another corner kick, this time taken by Jac Caputo (Pittsburgh, PA/Montour) and finished by Blake Cooper (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) for a quick 2-0 lead
* Less than two minutes after Cooper scored his fourth goal of the season, Owen Peterson (Erie, PA/McDowell) netted his third goal
* Off a direct kick taken from the right side, Reilly Nickles (Pittsburgh, PA/Moon) sent a low ball into the box and Peterson finished the ball just feet from the goal
* In net, (Gibsonia, PA/Pine-Richland) got his second win and first shutout of the season
* Overall, the Lions landed 10 of their 16 shots on goal, connecting on three all in the second half
* Behrend held the Redhawks to a pair of shots in the second half
