Men’s Soccer Finishes Up Regular Season vs. Hilbert At Home

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team concludes regular season play with an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) matchup against Hilbert on Tuesday, Oct. 29. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

* Behrend picked up two shutout victories last week over Waynesburg (3-0) and Carlow (4-0)
* Seniors Blake Cooper (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) and Chris Profaca (Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) found the back of the net against the Yellow Jackets, while John Ziobro (Westtown, NY/Minisink Valley), Andy Jones (Girard, PA/Girard), Cole Thomas (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin), and Jaren Beigh (Enola, PA/East Pennsboro) netted scores vs. the Celtics on Saturday
* The Lions defense held Carlow to zero shots and only one corner kick for their seventh shutout of the year and fifth shutout of the season for goalkeeper Anthony Scalise (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin)
* Cooper leads the team and is tied for third in the AMCC in goals (nine) and fifth in the conference rankings in points (20), followed by Owen Petersen's  (Erie, PA/McDowell) five scores for 11 points
* Profaca and Ziobro have both delivered three scores each for six points this season, while Dylan Akut (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum), Brock Kiefer (Eighty-Four, PA/Canon McMillan), and Jac Caputo (Pittsburgh, PA/Montour) lead the Lions with three assists apiece
* Scalise leads the team with 34 saves in 10 starts and sits second in the AMCC in shutouts (five) and third in save percentage (.756) and goals-against average (1.10). Evan Dougal (Gibsonia, PA/Pine-Richland) has tallied 13 saves and two shutouts in six starts, while ranking second in the conference with a .762 save percentage and 0.83 goals-against average
* As a team, Behrend is third in the conference in goals (28), assists (23), and points (79)

Hilbert News & Notes:

* Hilbert enters Tuesday's contest with a 4-7-3 overall record and 4-2-1 conference record, currently in fourth in the AMCC standings
* Last week, the Hawks tied against Pitt-Bradford (1-1) and defeated La Roche (6-1)
* Junior Carter Burke has registered a team-high five goals and five assists for 15 points. Burke's five assists place him tied for fourth in the conference rankings
* Jason Vullo has also scored five goals this season, followed by Chris Smith and John Schroth four scores each
* In 13 starts, goalkeeper Daniel Downes is second in the AMCC with 78 saves to go along with two shutouts
* The Hawks were selected to finish sixth in the 2024 Men's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll, while Vullo and defender Cam Murdie were named 2024 Preseason Players to Watch
* Head coach Jonny Black is in his third season at the helm of the men's soccer program
