Men's Swimming and Diving Competes in Tri-Meet

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Preparing for the upcoming Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships, the Penn State Behrend men's swimming and diving team fell in a tri-meet at Allegheny on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions fell 161-100 to the Gators and then 167-95 to Saint Vincent.

Mark Patterson (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) had the best finish for Behrend on the day. He won the 200 backstroke with a top time of 2:03.25. Victor Nguyen (San Jose, CA/Evergreen Valley) had a second-place finish in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:03.54 and then took third in the 200 breaststroke (2:22.35).

In addition to Nguyen, Nick Kost (Ashburn, VA/Stone Bridge) was runner up in an event. Kost tallied a time of 2:07.12 for second in the 200 IM.

Ryan Siggins (Erie, PA/Iroquois) also tallied a third-place finish for the Lions. He tallied a time of 1:52.22 in the 200 freestyle, while Patterson finished fourth (1:52.95).

In the 200 butterfly, Nick Roth (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) was third overall in 2:03.20 and Keith Powell (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) was fourth (2:08.98). Powell had another fourth-place finish but in the 100 butterfly (57.94).

Roth also joined Nguyen, Patterson and Nick Snyder (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) for a third-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:41.21). Snyder then led Behrend in the 100 freestyle, placing fourth in 50.71. In the second relay of the day, Snyder, Roth, Ty Elder (Brentwood, CA/Heritage) and Matt Myers (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) were also third in the 200 free relay (1:33.62).

Jeremy Brosius (Hatboro, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) had the fifth fastest time in the 100 backstroke, toucing in 1:01.52.

The Lions return to action on Wednesday, February 10 at the AMCC Championships.
