Men's Swimming Downs Penn State Altoona

 

ALTOONA, Pa.  – The Penn State Behrend men's swimming and diving team defeated Penn State Altoona 150-75 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions dominated the Altoona Lions with an array of winners to sweep four events. Mark Patterson (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin), Steven Owens (Erie, PA/McDowell), Noah Babik (Penn Township, PA/Penn Trafford) and Branden McWilliams (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) won the opening 200 medley relay (1:42.86).

Brady Mattson (Wilmington, DE/Delaware Military) had the top time in the 1000 freestyle in 10:55.71, followed by a first-place finish by Patterson also won the 200 freestyle (1:51.30) for his second win of the day.

Liam Watterson (Brentwood, PA/Baldwin) was a double-winner once again. He took first in the 50-freestyle (23.51) and again in the 200 breaststroke (2:27.48).

In the 100 backstroke sweep, Owens led the way with a time of 1:00.31. Dillon Scheidemantle (Mars, PA/Pine-Richland) paced Behrend with a time of 1:08.95. Jake Schmidt (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) had the top time in the 200 butterfly in 2:12.36, while McWilliams won the 100 freestyle (51.80).

Cole Dombrosky (Mount Pleasant, PA/Mount Pleasant) picked up the final win for the Lions in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:11.13.

Behrend returns action on Friday against Malone. Meet begins at 5 p.m.
