ROCHESTER, NY – The Penn State Behrend men's swimming and diving team maintains a significant lead after day three of the 2020 Allegheny Empire Championships on Friday night.

Noteworthy:

* Behrend is the front runner in the AMCC once again and is in third place for the combined score with the Empire 8
* The Lions won gold medal for the entire meet in the 800 freestyle relay thanks to Jacob Schmidt (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep), Quinn Fischer (Fairview, PA/Fairview), David Ewing (South Fayette, PA/South Fayette) and James Connolly (Allentown, PA/Parkland) in 6:58.05
* Coming off a win in the 100 butterfly yesterday, Matt Karenbauer (Butler, PA/Knoch) got his second individual championship in the 200 butterfly
* Karenbauer repeats as the 200 butterfly champion with a time of 1:56.85. He also placed fourth overall
* Steven Owens (Erie, PA/McDowell) was third in the AMCC and eighth overall in this event with a time of 2:00.09
* Behrend had three Top 6 finishers in the 100 breaststroke, led by Jacob Eshelman (Franklin, PA/Franklin)
* Eshelman was runner up with a time of 1:00.55, followed by Alex Croll (Honolulu, HI/Roosevelt) in third (1:01.01) and Colin Torrence (Litchfield, CT/Litchfield) placed sixth
* Eshelman and Croll took sixth and seventh in the overall meet, respectively
* In the 100 backstroke, Liam Watterson (Brentwood, PA/Baldwin) led the Lions and grabbed third place in the AMCC with a time of 53.72 and Justin Heller (Franklin, PA/Rocky Grove) came in fifth
