Compton Named Men's Swimmer of the Meet; Lions Finish Second at AMCC Championships

ROCHESTER, NY – The Penn State Behrend men's swimming team registered 276 points on the final day of the 2022 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships to place second overall with a team score of 839.

Noteworthy:

* Tim Compton (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) was named the Allegheny Empire Championship Men's Swimmer of the Meet
* Compton won his third individual title in the 200 butterfly tonight (1:53.39), giving him three individual gold medals
* Compton also broke the AMCC Meet record in the 200 butterfly
* The Behrend Lions took second for the first time in program history after claiming 14 straight team titles
* In addition to Compton, Jacob Eshelman (Franklin, PA/Franklin) tallied a first-place finish on the night?
* Eshelman led Behrend in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:10.26
* James Connolly (Allentown, PA/Parkland) led the Lions in the 1650 free for second overall with a time of 16:41.44 while Jake Schmidt (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) placed third (16:51.46)
* In the 200 backstroke, Matt Karenbauer (Butler, PA/Knoch) posted a time of 1:58.91 for second in the 200 backstroke
* Justin Heller (Franklin, PA/Rocky Grove) had the fastest time for the Lions in the 100 freestyle, placing 4^th overall in 48.82
* The relay of Eshelman, Schmidt, Compton and Heller took second in the 400 freestyle relay (3:10.39)
