Behrend Men's Swimming and Diving Takes Third at Empire-AMCC Championships

ROCHESTER, NY – The Penn State Behrend men's swimming and diving team finished third out of 10 teams with 891 points at the 2023 Allegheny Empire Championships hosted by Nazareth College at the Webster Aquatic Center.  

Combined Men's Scores: 1. Alfred State (1232), 2. Alfred (967.50), 3. Penn State Behrend (891), 4. Hartwick (786), 5. Nazareth (528.5), 6. Penn State Altoona (461.50), 7. Pitt-Bradford (267), 8. Utica (149.5), 9. Medaille (5), 10. Wells (2)

Noteworthy:

* Head coach Jen Wallace was named AMCC Coach of the Year

Key Moments:

* The Lions finished behind Alfred State in the AMCC for second
* Will Perham (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) won the 200 breaststroke for his second gold medal of the championships
* Perham had a winning time of 2:06.49, followed by Jacob Eshelman (Franklin, PA/Franklin) in second place (2:07.63) in the same event
* Tim Compton (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) was runner up in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:57.88
* Compton, Anthony Tumino (Hershey, PA/Hershey), Eshelman and Dan Tanaskovic (Monaca, PA/Central Valley) were the four that made up the team to collect third in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:11.11
* Jacob Earley (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) was fourth on the one-meter diving board with a score of 34.95
* Tumino led the Lions in the 200 backstroke, taking fifth with a time of 1:57.77
* Freshman Shane Rupert (Richland Township, PA/Pine-Richland) collected a seventh-place finish in the 1650 free in 17:31.94
