Trio of Lions Earn AMCC Athletes of the Week
A trio of Penn State Behrend student-athletes were named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Athletes of the Week in their respective sports for the week of October 28-November 3.
ERIE, Pa. – A trio of Penn State Behrend student-athletes were named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Athletes of the Week in their respective sports for the week of October 28-November 3.
Senior Tim Compton (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) set two pool records on Saturday in a victory over Pitt-Bradford to register Men's Swimmer of the Week honors. Compton won the 200 butterfly in a new pool time of 1:58.10 and then was apart of the first-place 200 medley relay with a new pool time of 1:37.72. Compton also won the 100 butterfly (52.95) to give him three wins on the day.
Women's swimmer Camryn Watters (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield) notched Swimmer of the Week, setting the pool record at Pitt-Bradford with a winning time of 2:11.92 in the 200 backstroke and swam a leg on the pool record-setting 200 medley relay team with a time of 1:54.57 for first place.
Cadence Jones (North East, PA/North East) grabbed Women's Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, averaging 5.00 kills per set with a .306 attack percentage in a 2-1 week for the Lions. Behrend went undefeated in AMCC action thanks to Jones' season-best 23 kills and 18 digs vs. Hilbert along with a .477 hitting percentage. She then tallied a team-high 21 kills in a 3-0 win over Pitt-Greensburg.
The swimming and diving teams are back home this Saturday against Westminster at 1 p.m., while the women's volleyball team plays their regular season finale vs. La Roche at 1 p.m. in the Junker Center.
