Compton Breaks 100 Fly Records; Lions Stay in First Place at Fredonia

FREDONIA, NY – Senior Tim Compton (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) set a new team and pool record in the 100 butterfly to lead the Penn State Behrend men's swimming and diving team on day two of the Fredonia State Blue Devil Invite on Saturday.

* The Lions continue to dominate in the water, holding a 428.5 lead over second place SUNY Brockport
* Behrend won all but one event in the finals
* Compton was apart of the record-setting 200 medley relay along with winning the 100 butterfly in a new team and pool record time of 50.66
* Compton, Isaac Stoeckle (Pittsburgh, PA/Avonworth), Anthony Tumino (Hershey, PA/Hershey) and Will Perham (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) started the finals off with a bang

* Tumino, Perham and Fowkes were also individual winners on the night
* Tumino was first in the 200 freestyle in 1:43.74 and Fowkes had the top time in the 100 backstroke (52.07)
* Fowkes led a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 backstroke, followed by Stoeckle and Nicolin Pierce (Erie, PA/McDowell)
* Perham won the 100 breastroke in 56.98 and Ryan Willis (State College, PA/State College) came in third (59.04)
* Behind Compton in the 100 butterfly was Murphy in third (53.48) and Turner in fourth (54.22)

* Behrend returns to action tomorrow for the final day of the Blue Devil Invitational hosted by Fredonia. Prelims begin at 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
