Men's Tennis Defeats Waynesburg, 9-0

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men’s tennis team split a non-conference tri-match on Saturday, defeating Waynesburg 9-0 and then falling to Baldwin-Wallace, 8-1.

Matt Slamecka went undefeated in singles play on the day. He shut out Peter Mally 6-0, 6-0 of Waynesburg and then picked up the lone win against Baldwin-Wallace 6-3, 6-1.

The Lions swept the remaining singles matches vs. Waynesburg and all of the doubles. Elliot Blackstone posted a 6-3, 6-0 decision at No. 2 singles and Chris Galvin won 6-1, 6-3.  David Buiter and Jake Fling also won their singles match at the fourth and fifth singles, respectively.

The sixth singles and third doubles matches were forfeited. Blackstone and Galvin picked up an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles, while Slamecka and Buiter recorded an 8-1 victory at the second spot.

The Lions return to action on Friday for their final fall match against Mercyhurst, beginning time is 3 p.m.
