Lions Sweep D'Youville in AMCC Opener

BUFFALO, NY – The Penn State Behrend men's tennis team continued their winning ways with a 9-0 sweep of D'Youville in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) opener for the Lions on Friday afternoon.

Taimi Ando (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Ramapo), Lerdlarp Jaturapol (Bangkok, Thailand/Palmerslon) and Mason Marion (Ellwood City, PA/Riverside) were all double winners on the day. The Lions won all three doubles, starting Ando and Jaturapol at the No. 1 spot for an 8-4 victory.

Raphael Bretz (Wexford, PA/Allegheny) and Marion were 8-1 winners at No. 2 doubles, while Billy Cattron (Greenville, PA/Commodore Perry) and Carson Emili (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) posted the same score to win at No. 3.

Ando then swept the No. 1 singles position 6-0 and 6-0, and Jaturapol picked up the win at No. 4 (6-2, 6-2). Chris Galvin (Erie, PA/McDowell) returned to the lineup for a 6-1, 6-4 victory at the No. 2 spot and Alex Prichard (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) earned his second singles win at No. 3 by a score of 6-0, 6-0.

Marion and Luke Smith (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) were 6-0, 6-0 winners at No. 5 and 6 singles, respectively.

The Lions returns to action tomorrow against Pitt-Bradford and Mt. Aloysius. The first match begins at noon on the Behrend courts.
