Men's Tennis Wins Fourth Straight

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's tennis team picked up two Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) wins, defeating Pitt-Bradford and Mt. Aloysius both by an 8-1 score on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions (5-9, 3-0 AMCC) have won four in a row, including three straight conference matches. In the first match of the day, Behrend only surrendered one doubles game for its first win of the day. Taimi Ando (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Ramapo) led the sweep of the singles competition with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1.

Mason Marion (Ellwood City, PA/Riverside) also did not lose a set at No. 4 singles and teamed up with Chris Galvin (Erie, PA/McDowell) in the No. 1 double spot for an 8-3 win.

Galvin went on to post a 6-3, 6-0 decision over Ian Vaughan at second singles. Lerdlarp Jaturapol (Bangkok, Thailand/Palmerslon) followed Galvin at the No. 3 spot for a 6-1, 6-3 victory, while Raphael Bretz (Wexford, PA/Allegheny) posted a 6-1, 6-1 win at fifth singles.

Carson Emili (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) was the final singles victory, earning a 7-5, 6-1 decision over Dylan Nuzzo at No. 6.

Luke Smith (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) and Billy Cattron (Greenville, PA/Commodore Perry) joined forces for a close 9-8 win at No. 3 doubles, helping Behrend take a 2-1 lead heading into the singles games.

In the second match against the Mounties, the Lions took all three doubles matches and five of the six singles. Alex Prichard (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) got into the action this match, teaming with Bretz at No. 3 doubles for an 8-2 win.

The Lions return to action next Saturday at Pitt-Greensburg. Match starts at 4 p.m.
