Men's Tennis Downs Thiel, 8-1

ERIE, Pa. – Taimi Ando (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Ramapo) and Chris Galvin (Erie, PA/McDowell) won at No. 1 doubles and each posted victories at first and second singles, respectively, to lead the Penn State Behrend men's tennis team past Thiel 8-1 in non-conference action on Friday evening.

Ando and Galvin recorded an 8-2 decision, the first of three wins in the doubles competition for the Lions (7-10) to start off the match. Lerdlarp Jaturapol (Bangkok, Thailand/Palmerslon) and Mason Marion (Ellwood City, PA/Riverside) also posted an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles, followed by another 8-2 from Alex Prichard (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) and Raphael Bretz (Wexford, PA/Allegheny).

Jaturapol, Marion and Carson Emili (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) swept their opponents (6-0, 6-0) in the single competition. Ando picked up his second win of the night 6-3, 6-3, and Galvin only lost two sets to defeat Collin Andrew, 6-1, 6-1.

The Lions return to action tomorrow against Penn State Altoona at Westwood Racquet Club. Match starts at 4 p.m.
