Men's Tennis Picks Up Eighth Win

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's tennis team posted their eighth victory of the season and fifth Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) win with an 8-1 decision over Penn State Altoona on Saturday at Westwood Racquet Club.

The Lions (8-10, 5-1 AMCC) swept three doubles games, before winning five out of six singles. Carson Emili (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) and Raphael Bretz (Wexford, PA/Allegheny) won a thrilling No. 3 doubles game, posting a 9-8 (7-3) tiebreaker decision.

Emili also tallied a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 6 singles.  Mason Marion (Ellwood City, PA/Riverside), Taimi Ando (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Ramapo), Chris Galvin (Erie, PA/McDowell) and Lerdlarp Jaturapol (Bangkok, Thailand/Palmerslon) were also double winners on the day.

Ando defeated Max Averbach 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and Galvin swept Adam Kennedy in the second spot (6-0, 6-0). Jaturapol handed Mike Reinhardt a 6-1, 6-3 loss and Mason was a 6-2, 6-2 winner of Sebastian Bonifasi at No. 5 singles.

Behrend returns to action on Thursday against Washington & Jefferson. Match starts at 3 p.m.
