Lions Fall to Mt. Union

ERIE, Pa. – Taimi Ando (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Ramapo) defeated Nate Fockler at No. 1 singles to pick up the lone win for the Penn State Behrend men's tennis team, who dropped an 8-1 decision to Mt. Union in non-conference action.

Ando handed Fockler a 6-3, 6-0 loss in the top spot but unfortunately could not get the doubles win with Chris Galvin (Erie, PA/McDowell). The team fell to Fockler and Nick Fockler, 8-3.

The Purple Raiders (1-0) won all three doubles and the No. 2 – No. 5 singles. Lerdlarp Jatruapol (Bangkok, Thailand/Palmerson) and Carson Emili (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) took their opponents into extra sets, but fell in two games.

The Lions (0-2) return to action on Thursday for their second to last match of the non-traditional season. Behrend will travel to Roberts Wesleyan, beginning at 4 p.m.
