Eastern Nazarene Defeats Men's Tennis in Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Eastern Nazarene men's tennis team notched its first victory of the season, defeating Penn State-Behrend 8-1 Monday afternoon over spring break in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

The ENC Lions improve to 1-1 on the season while the Behrend Lions slide to 3-7 overall.

Eastern Nazarene swept all three doubles matches to boast a 3-0 lead at the start of singles action.

The ENC Lions then claimed five wins in singles play to secure its first victory of the season.

Steelman prevailed 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 1 position over Taimi Ando (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Ramapo) while McKay-Corkum picked up a 7-5, 6-1 win at the second slot. Perron and Thompson both rolled to 6-0, 6-0 victories at the fourth and sixth spots, respectively.

Behrend tallied its lone point of the match at the No. 3 singles position as Lerdlarp Jaturapol (Bangkok, Thailand/Palmerslon) topped Tim Luz 6-4, 7-5.

The Lions return to action tomorrow against Wilkes at 8:30 a.m.
