Men's Tennis Continues Winning Ways

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's tennis team had five players who posted both singles and doubles wins to help the Lions defeat Pitt-Greensburg 9-0 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) on Saturday at Westwood Racquet Club.

The Lions (9-9, 5-0 AMCC) kept up their winning ways, getting their fifth conference victory.

Taimi Ando (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Ramapo) and Chris Galvin (Erie, PA/McDowell) blanked Zack Pivirotto and Jay Sheth at No. 1 doubles, 8-0. At No. 2 doubles, the regular pair of Lerdlarp Jaturapol (Bangkok, Thailand/Palmerslon) and David Buiter (London, England/IMG Academies) managed an 8-2 win and Raphael Bretz (Wexford, PA/North Allegheny) joined Mason Marion (Ellwood City, PA/Riverside) for the easy 8-1 victory at third doubles.

In singles play, Bretz shut out Alex Leonard 6-0, 6-0 at the five spot. Ando was able to get a 6-1, 6-0 win in the leader position and Galvin posted his second win of the day by a 6-0, 6-3 score.

Jaturapol and Buiter remained undefeated in conference play with a 6-1, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-2 wins at No. 3 and 4 singles, respectively.

Carson Emili (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) got a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles over Sheth.

Behrend will go for its seventh straight win against Franciscan tomorrow. Match begins at 11 a.m.
