Franciscan Too Much For Lions

ERIE, Pa. – In a battle of the undefeated top two teams in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC), the Franciscan Barons defeated Penn State Behrend 7-2 on Sunday morning at Westwood Racquet Club.

The win marks the second straight regular-season victory for Franciscan over the Lions (9-10, 5-1 AMCC). The Barons won two doubles games before winning singles game one through five for the win.

Behrend managed to win No. 6 singles thanks to Carson Emili (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) with a 6-0, 6-2 decision.

Raphael Bretz (Wexford, PA/North Allegheny) and Mason Marion (Ellwood City, PA/Riverside) earned an 8-2 victory at third doubles.

Taimi Ando (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Ramapo) and Lerdlarp Jaturapol (Bangkok, Thailand/Palmerslon) took their opponents to three sets in singles play. Ando  fell 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 and Jaturapol won the second game 6-2 but lost in the 6-1 in the first and third.

The Lions return to action on next Sunday at Allegheny. The non-conference match starts at 1 p.m.
