Lions Down Mt. Aloysius

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's tennis team won their second Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) match of the season, defeating Mt. Aloysius 9-0 on Friday night.

The Lions (3-10, 2-0 AMCC) swept the doubles competition, only giving up seven game points before winning all six singles matches. David Buiter (London, England/IMG Academies) and Guillermo Guillen (San Pedro Sula, Honduras/E.I.S) were double winners, including an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles.

Buiter then posted the first of two 6-0, 6-0 decisions at No. 1 singles. Brett Palmer (North East, PA/North East) also swept his opponent 6-0, 6-0 at the fifth spot.  Guillen was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at No. 2 singles to go undefeated on the night.

Nick Kapty (Monongahela, PA/Ringgold) and Andrew Trinh (Laguna Beach, CA/Tustin) teamed up for an 8-3 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Palmer and George Tomoiga (Reading, PA/Wilson) were 8-2 winners at the final doubles spot.

Trinh took his opponent into three sets, winning 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 at No. 3 singles. Kapty posted a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles and Tomoiga completed the sweep with a 6-2, 6-0 decision at sixth singles.

Behrend returns to action on Sunday at Alfred. Match starts at 1 p.m.
