Men's Tennis Handles Pitt-Greensburg

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's tennis team earned their second Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) win of the season with a 7-2 decision over Pitt-Greensburg on Sunday afternoon.

The Lions (3-6, 2-1 AMCC) are coming off their first conference loss of the season to Franciscan on Saturday, rebounding with a convincing win over the Bobcats (1-3, 1-1 AMCC).

Andre Robert (San Jose, Costa Rica/PAS), Matthew Johnson (Lakewood, NY/Southwestern), and Nick Kapty (Monongahela, PA/Ringgold) were double winners for Behrend.

At No. 1 doubles, Johnson and Robert started the match with an 8-6 win and Kapty and Christian Ponce (Guatemala City, Guatemala/SEK-International School) were 9-7 winners at third doubles to take a 2-1 lead in the match.

Behrend went on to win five of the six singles matches to win convincingly. Robert led at No. 1 singles with a three-set decision at 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. Johnson followed with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles, while David Buiter (London, England/IMG Academies) secured the victory with a 6-4, 6-4 decision at third singles.

Kapty won at fourth singles 6-2, 6-2, and Brett Palmer (North East, PA/North East) defeated Luke Zeleznik 6-4, 6-1 to secure the win for the Lions.

Behrend returns to action on Tuesday at Alfred. Time is TBA.
